The Egyptian Engineers Syndicate has announced the opening of nominations for all vacant syndicate positions, with applications accepted from Sunday 11 January 2026 until Sunday 25 January 2026. Candidates may register at the syndicate’s headquarters or at any branch office nationwide each day between 10:00 and 18:00.

Egypt Engineers Syndicate elections 2026

The electoral process will cover posts at every level of the profession: the General Secretary, branch presidents, half of the members of branch councils and engineering section councils where four years have elapsed since the last election, and the supplementary members who will represent engineers at the syndicate’s supreme council.

Eleven supplementary members will be elected to the supreme council. Representation is allocated by section as follows: two engineers each from the electrical, civil, mechanical and architectural sections; and one engineer each from the mining, petroleum and metals, chemical and nuclear, and textile engineering sections. Elections for the engineering section councils will follow rules tied to graduates’ year of qualification for each section.

Key dates and voting schedule

Voting will be staged across three Fridays to accommodate different offices and possible run-offs. On Friday 27 February 2026, members will elect branch presidents, half of the branch council members and half of the engineering section council members. On Friday 6 March 2026, the syndicate will hold the election for the General Secretary and the eleven supplementary members, and run-offs between branch president candidates if no candidate achieves an absolute majority. A further run-off for the General Secretary will take place on Friday 13 March 2026 if required.

Eligibility and nomination requirements

Prospective candidates must have settled their syndicate subscriptions through the end of 2025. Each candidate must submit a valid criminal record certificate addressed to the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate and a recent drug-free certificate issued by a government or military hospital.

Nominations may be submitted in person at the syndicate headquarters or at the candidate’s affiliated branch. While candidates are expected to apply in person, the syndicate permits nominations by a special power of attorney if the document is notarised at the real estate registration office.

The syndicate will accept challenges and withdrawals on Thursday 29 January and Friday 30 January 2026. These procedures are designed to ensure a clear and lawful electoral roll ahead of voting.

What this means for the profession

The elections will shape leadership at both national and regional levels for the coming term. Branch presidents and council members influence professional standards, licencing matters and continuing professional development, while the General Secretary and supplementary members sit on the supreme council that guides national policy for engineering practice.

With nominations open across the country, the syndicate expects a competitive field representing a wide range of technical disciplines. Members are advised to check branch offices for full details of nomination procedures and the official candidate list as polling day approaches.

Key Takeaways:

  • Egypt opens nominations for the Engineers Syndicate elections from 11 to 25 January 2026.
  • Key contests include the General Secretary, branch heads and 11 national council members representing engineering divisions.
  • Voting will take place on 27 February, 6 March and 13 March 2026 for different posts and run-offs.
  • Candidates must meet financial and legal requirements including paid subscriptions to 2025 and clear criminal and drug tests.
