The Dakshina Kannada district administration has confirmed evening concerts at Tannirubhavi Beach in Mangalore on 3 and 4 January as part of the Karavali Utsav festival. Performances include a night by Kailash Kher and another by Vijay Prakash. Officials have issued traffic and parking instructions to ensure smooth movement and public safety during the events.

Police warned that vehicle density is likely to rise in the area and have prohibited parking along both sides of the road from Kudremukh Junction to Tannirubhavi Beach during event hours. Motorists are required to use only the specified parking locations. Directional flex boards have been erected along the route to guide visitors to these parking sites and organisers urge attendees to arrive early and park in the assigned areas.
The district has designated the following parking grounds for event visitors:
- Feija Cricket Ground (parking area in front of Hotel Nityadhara)
- Delta Maidan parking
- Rafthar parking
- Bengre Tannirubhavi Masjid parking area
- Katte Ground parking
- Dost Ground
- Fatima Church parking
- A. J. Shetty’s ground on S.E.Z. Road
In addition, the public may use the Sultan Battery ferry as an alternate means to reach the venue. Police have emphasised that visitors should not stop or loiter on the roadway and must maintain discipline to avoid traffic bottlenecks during the concerts.
Authorities have installed signboards and flex markers along the approach roads to announce parking directions. Event attendees are advised to follow these signs and comply with on-site marshals and police personnel for their own safety and to speed entry and exit from the venue.
Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy has directed officers to enforce the parking plan and manage traffic at key junctions. He asked the public to cooperate with law enforcement and said the measures aim to reduce congestion, ensure emergency access and provide a positive experience for residents and visitors alike.
Event organisers and the district administration have coordinated to ensure clear pedestrian routes between parking grounds and the beach area. Attendees are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the designated parking locations and plan extra time for travel, particularly during peak arrival and departure periods.
Visitors with accessibility needs should contact event organisers in advance to receive guidance on reserved access points. The administration also reminded motorists to avoid unauthorised or overnight parking in the vicinity to prevent local inconvenience.
By pooling resources between local government, police and community volunteers, the Karavali Utsav organisers aim to host the two nights of music with minimal disruption. The combined traffic and parking plan seeks to balance public safety with the smooth running of cultural events that draw both residents and visitors to Mangalore’s coastline.
