Motorola X70 Air Pro Could Reinvent Slim Smartphones in China

Motorola is preparing to raise the stakes in the slim smartphone segment with the X70 Air Pro, a handset that teases premium camera hardware, advanced AI features and rapid charging in a notably thin chassis. Early leaks and company teasers shared on Weibo suggest Motorola is targeting users who want flagship-style capabilities without the bulk associated with conventional high-end models.

Motorola X70 Air Pro aims to redefine slim phones

The most eye-catching claim is a triple rear camera array that reportedly includes a periscope telephoto lens. Optical zoom is rarely present on ultra-slim phones because of the mechanical space it requires. If Motorola manages to integrate genuine periscope optics while preserving a slim profile, the X70 Air Pro would offer long-range photography options that typically appear only on thicker flagship devices.

Alongside the camera hardware, Motorola’s teasers promise enhanced AI capabilities. The company has hinted at smarter camera optimisation, improved scene recognition and AI-assisted zoom processing. There are also suggestions of AI-backed performance and power management, which would help a slim device sustain usable performance and battery life under load.

Power and charging are another focus. The X70 Air Pro is rumoured to support up to 90W wired fast charging, a step up from the 67W seen on previous Motorola models such as the Moto X70 Air and Motorola Edge 70. While Motorola has not confirmed the battery capacity, strong fast-charging support could mitigate the compromises that come with a thinner battery cell, offering users rapid top-ups for everyday use.

Under the hood the handset is expected to use the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 platform. That chipset would place the X70 Air Pro in the upper mid-range segment, providing a balance of performance, efficiency and thermal management that suits a slim chassis. There are separate rumours that Motorola is developing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 device for a different lineup, which suggests the X70 Air Pro is tuned for efficiency rather than raw flagship power.

For consumers, the promise is simple: long-range photography without a bulky body, fast charging to reduce downtime and AI-driven features to improve everyday imaging and battery management. The real-world appeal will depend on how well Motorola balances these priorities. Key tests will include sustained thermal performance, true optical zoom quality and practical battery endurance across a normal day’s use.

Market observers will watch closely because slim phones remain a niche that few manufacturers have fully solved. If Motorola can deliver a convincing mix of periscope zoom, rapid charging and AI optimisations in a slender design, the X70 Air Pro could carve out a new option for buyers who want advanced features without the heft of a flagship.

Until Motorola confirms specifications and the handset reaches reviewers, the final verdict will remain tentative. The Weibo teasers, however, signal that the company is placing renewed emphasis on slim form factors in China and other markets, aiming to combine style with practical performance.

Key Takeaways:

  • Motorola X70 Air Pro promises to push slim-phone design with a triple rear camera and periscope zoom.
  • Teasers on Weibo highlight enhanced AI camera optimisation and power management.
  • Device is tipped to use Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 and offer up to 90W fast charging.
