The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun an electronic membership registration drive across the state, following directives from the party’s national headquarters. The exercise was officially flagged off by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and saw a strong turnout of party faithful.

Former governor Yahaya Bello was among the first to be registered electronically at Agasa Ward in Okene Local Government Area. Bello’s registration was carried out in a public event attended by the state party chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, local government chairmen and numerous grassroots leaders.

Kogi APC e-registration drives membership and outreach

Speaking after his registration, Yahaya Bello described the e-registration as timely and necessary to strengthen internal cohesion within the APC and to enhance direct engagement between the party and its members. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth, particularly in economic development and human capital advancement.

Bello emphasised that the inclusion of the National Identification Number (NIN) in the e-registration process would ensure that registered members are directly connected to party leadership and can be reached without intermediaries for empowerment and other benefits. He urged party members to encourage relatives and neighbours to register so they can access government interventions under the Renewed Hope administration.

“I want to assure you that our leader and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has good plans for the people of this great nation and he will continue to do more for the people,” Bello said, urging active participation in the exercise and patience as reforms take effect.

The state chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, told the gathering that following the registration of the governor and the former governor, the e-registration exercise will continue across all 21 local government areas. He appealed for cooperation and prompt participation to ensure the process is completed within the timeframe set by the national leadership.

Party stakeholders at the event praised the state executive, local government leaders and grassroots activists for their commitment. Officials said the electronic drive is intended not only to update membership records but also to build a more responsive party structure that can channel empowerment and development initiatives directly to beneficiaries.

Observers noted that the exercise reflects the APC’s effort to modernise party administration and improve voter outreach ahead of future elections. Bello reiterated that the APC remains the dominant political party in Kogi State and called on supporters to sustain the party’s political advantage by voting APC candidates at all levels.

Organisers of the e-registration stressed logistical readiness and said teams will be deployed across the state to reach remote wards. The requirement for the NIN was presented as a means to verify identity and to align party records with national databases, thereby facilitating targeted interventions.

As the drive progresses, the APC in Kogi has urged calm and cooperation from residents, assuring them that challenges associated with development and reform are being managed with the long-term interests of the state and the country in mind.

Key Takeaways:

  • Kogi APC e-registration launched statewide with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo flagging off the exercise.
  • Former Governor Yahaya Bello was electronically registered and urged members to back President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda.
  • The exercise links members via NIN to empowerment programmes under the Renewed Hope administration.
  • State chairman says registration will continue across all 21 local government areas to strengthen party cohesion.
