Belarusian postal authorities and collectors have chosen the design they consider the best stamp of the year. In Belpost’s online poll held from 17 to 28 December 2025, the stamp titled Belarusian Radio 100 years emerged as the public favourite, receiving 1,555 votes out of 3,788 cast.

The competition attracted more than 50 different stamp issues. Voters selected three prize winners, with the radio commemorative taking the top spot. Photographer and designer credits were highlighted by Belpost: the winning design was created by Alena Miadzvedz.

In second place was the stamp Trolleybus 43300D. BKM Holding, 2019, featuring a photograph by Mikhail Maliutin and a design by Yauhenia Biadonik. That entry drew 1,414 votes. The third prize went to a seasonal design, Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!, by Maryna Krezo, which received 189 votes but enough to secure a podium finish.

The result represents a notable break with the recent pattern in Belpost’s annual contest. For the previous three years, stamps honouring security services and state agencies had dominated the poll. In 2024 the winning issue commemorated the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. In 2023 the top stamp celebrated rescue workers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, while 2022 recognised service dogs of the Border Service of Belarus.

This year’s victory by a cultural and historical theme has been welcomed by collectors and some postal enthusiasts as a sign of broader public interest in civic and heritage subjects. More than three thousand members of the public took part in the vote, demonstrating continued engagement with philately as a popular pastime and a form of public expression.

Belpost’s online ballot drew 3,788 participants in total, and organisers said the event featured over 50 nominees from across recent issues. The competition format allows registered users to choose their preferred designs, and Belpost published the final tallies on its website.

Not all contests in recent years have been free of controversy. When the 2022 competition opened, a candidate stamp from a dissolved bird protection organisation featuring a white tit was removed after it began to lead in early voting. The episode carried political overtones and prompted debate among collectors and civic groups about the rules governing entries and removals.

Despite past disputes, this year’s vote passed without widely reported incidents, and the winning design has already drawn attention from philatelic circles for its commemoration of a century of Belarusian radio. The result is likely to be cited in year-end round-ups of Belarusian cultural events and may influence future stamp programmes that aim to appeal beyond official and service-related themes.

Designers and photographers named on the winning stamps were credited in Belpost’s announcement, reflecting the continued collaboration between artists and the postal service in producing issues that resonate with the public. Collectors will now await the postal service’s publication of mintage details and any special releases connected to the winning designs.

Key Takeaways:

  • ‘Belarusian Radio 100 years’ claimed first place in Belpost’s public poll with 1,555 votes.
  • More than 50 stamps were in contention and 3,788 people voted, marking the first win by a non-security design in four years.
  • Second and third places went to ‘Trolleybus 43300D. BKM Holding, 2019’ and ‘Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!’
  • The result highlights public interest in cultural and historical themes and broader participation in Belarusian philately, framed here as Belarus best postage stamp 2025.
