President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi extended his congratulations to the people of Egypt and to peoples around the world as the calendar turned to 2026, offering wishes for prosperity, peace and stability.

In a message posted on his official Facebook page, Mr Sisi wrote: “I extend my sincere congratulations to the great Egyptian people and to the peoples of the world on the occasion of the New Year 2026. I pray to God that this year will bring goodness and prosperity, that peace and stability will prevail, that wars and crises will end, and that the values of cooperation, integration and peaceful coexistence will rise for a better future for all humanity. Every year you are well, and Egypt always prospers.”

The president’s message, brief but wide-ranging, combined domestic optimism with a call for international solidarity. By invoking both economic wellbeing and an end to conflicts, the statement aligned national aspirations with broader regional and global priorities at the outset of the year.

Egypt New Year 2026 message and national priorities

Mr Sisi’s New Year message comes at a time when governments across the region are emphasising stability and economic recovery. For Egypt, 2026 presents opportunities to consolidate macroeconomic gains, attract investment and pursue infrastructure and social projects that officials say will support growth and employment.

While the statement did not set out specific policy measures, its focus on peace and cooperation signals continuity in the government’s public messaging. Officials often frame such seasonal addresses as moments to reaffirm commitments to national development and to reassure citizens about the direction of policy in the months ahead.

Observers note that national leaders use New Year messages to highlight priorities without entering into technical detail. Mr Sisi’s appeal for the end of wars and crises also reflects Egypt’s diplomatic posture as a country that frequently calls for mediation and stability within the wider Middle East and Africa.

Domestically, the president’s emphasis on prosperity and social wellbeing will be watched by citizens attentive to the real-life impact of government programmes on inflation, salaries and the cost of living. Economic stability remains central to public confidence, and messages that promise prosperity must be matched by concrete progress on employment, services and purchasing power.

Internationally, Egypt’s call for cooperation and peaceful coexistence echoes themes that many governments and international organisations have underscored in recent years. As geopolitical tensions persist in several regions, appeals for dialogue and integration remain prominent in official discourse.

Mr Sisi closed his post with a customary greeting, offering good wishes to Egyptians and affirming his hope that Egypt will continue to prosper. The message was widely shared on social media and covered by national outlets, reflecting its role as both a symbolic gesture and a public reaffirmation of the government’s stated aims for the year ahead.

As 2026 progresses, attention will turn to how those goals translate into policy actions and whether the calm tone of the New Year message is matched by measurable improvements in economic and social indicators across Egypt.
