District Commissioner B. Fauziya Tarannum inspected the newly constructed Prabuddha Academy in the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Wednesday, urging officials to finalise preparations for the centre’s imminent opening. Built at an estimated cost of INR 25 crore under a KKRDB grant, the training facility aims to provide free, high-quality coaching to students from the Kalyana Karnataka region preparing for national and state public service examinations.

Prabuddha Academy Kalaburagi

The academy occupies approximately 10,449.35 square metres in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee neighbourhood. Its design centres on accessible, modern training infrastructure intended to cultivate a competitive mindset among local students. District officials say the centre will initially train around 500 students each year, with plans to increase capacity in due course to benefit more aspirants from the region.

Prabuddha Academy houses four spacious training halls equipped with contemporary teaching aids, each able to accommodate groups for focused instruction. A well-stocked library containing books essential for competitive examinations and a digital library will support study needs. Mentoring rooms, self-study cubicles and administrative offices form part of the academy’s layout, providing an integrated environment for sustained preparation.

Officials highlighted a dedicated library area prepared to serve about 100 students simultaneously, ensuring resource access for intensive study sessions. The campus also includes a subsidised canteen and climate-comfortable interiors to create a conducive atmosphere for long study hours.

At the inspection, Ms Tarannum instructed department heads and project officers to expedite remaining works and ensure all facilities meet operational standards ahead of the opening. “The objective is to give promising students from Kalyana Karnataka the resources and coaching they need to compete successfully in key examinations,” she said, noting the government’s intention to scale the programme over time.

Representatives present during the visit included Preeti Dodmani, Joint Director of the Department of Social Welfare; Somasekhar, Welfare Officer for Backward Classes; Sangamesh, Welfare Officer for Minorities; and Saurabh, executive engineer from K.R.I.D.E.L, among other officials. Their presence underscored the multi-departmental effort to operationalise the academy quickly and efficiently.

Prabuddha Academy will focus on preparing candidates for major competitive assessments organised by national and state public service commissions. Free training aims to lower barriers for students who may otherwise lack access to expensive private coaching, particularly in a region that has historically lagged behind in educational infrastructure.

Local authorities will begin enrolment planning and outreach to eligible students soon after final checks. With its combination of physical resources, digital tools and mentoring support, the academy is pitched as a practical step towards improving public service exam readiness across Kalaburagi and surrounding districts.

Officials reiterated that the centre is part of a broader commitment to education and social welfare. The immediate focus is on launching operations smoothly and delivering consistent, quality coaching that can expand opportunities for youth in the Kalyana Karnataka area.
