Mark, the Kannada film led by Kiccha Sudeep, has closed its first week with an estimated India net of ₹21.14 crore after opening on 25 December. The total was largely fuelled by an enormous opening day in Karnataka, though the title experienced steep weekday declines following a promising start.
The film recorded an opening-day gross of approximately ₹8.6 crore, almost entirely contributed by Karnataka which accounted for ₹8.57 crore. The Christmas release window and Sudeep’s substantial fan base produced packed morning and evening shows across Bengaluru, Mysuru and Shivamogga.
Mark box office collection and first-week performance
Following the thunderous opening, collections fell sharply on Day 2 to around ₹3.2 crore, a decline of roughly 62.8 per cent from day one. The figure held steady on Day 3 at ₹3.2 crore, suggesting weekend footfalls in tier-2 and tier-3 centres cushioned the drop. Sunday saw a modest gain to ₹3.4 crore as regions such as Mysuru, Tumakuru and Hubballi reported higher evening and night occupancy.
The test for Mark arrived with the weekday run. Monday’s estimates fell to about ₹1.15 crore, a decline of 66.2 per cent from the weekend, signalling that the film struggled to attract repeat viewings beyond its core fan base. Tuesday and Wednesday continued the downward trend with approximate collections of ₹0.9 crore and ₹0.69 crore respectively, closing the first seven days at ₹21.14 crore.
Occupancy data for Day 7 showed an overall Kannada occupancy of 16.03 per cent. Morning shows averaged 9.43 per cent, afternoons 16.81 per cent, evenings 19.74 per cent and nights 18.14 per cent. Among centres, Shivamogga led with 29 per cent occupancy, followed by Tumakuru at 25.5 per cent and Mysuru at 22 per cent. Bengaluru, which had the highest number of shows at 337, recorded 15.5 per cent occupancy.
Other centres such as Hubballi (19.5 per cent) and Raichur (18 per cent) delivered moderate turnout. Some regions, including Belagavi (6.5 per cent) and Kundapura (9.25 per cent), remained subdued. The film’s receipts have been largely confined to Karnataka with negligible contributions from outside the state.
From a commercial perspective, Mark’s opening week could be described as respectable rather than spectacular. The strong first-day performance underlined star power and the advantage of a holiday release, but the sharp weekday falls exposed limited wider appeal and weak repeat business.
Looking ahead, the second-week performance will be decisive. Sustained runs in smaller centres and any positive word of mouth could help stabilise daily collections, but competition and declining weekday footfalls present hurdles. For now, the Kiccha Sudeep-starrer has delivered a solid platform to build on, thanks to its robust opening and relatively steady weekend take.

Key Takeaways:
- Mark box office collection reaches an estimated ₹21.14 crore India net in seven days, driven by a strong opening in Karnataka.
- Day 1 opened at ₹8.6 crore, but sharp weekday drops followed, with midweek weakness dragging daily averages down.
- Weekend stability and stronger performances in centres such as Shivamogga and Mysuru helped limit losses.
- Second-week trend will determine whether the film sustains beyond a fan-driven opening.
