The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a revised datesheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, moving several papers and asking schools to communicate the changes to students and parents. The board said the changes were made for administrative reasons and provided updated timetables on its official website.
CBSE revised date sheet and affected subjects
CBSE notified affiliated schools on 29 December that the Class 10 examinations for 13 subjects have been rescheduled. Papers that were due to begin on 3 March will now commence from 11 March. The subjects affected include Tibetan, German, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Bhoti, Bodo, Tangkhul, Japanese, Bhutia, Spanish, Kashmiri, Mizo, Bahasa Melayu and Accounting.
The board uploaded revised timetables and supporting notices to its website. Schools and candidates can download the official documents from the CBSE portal at Revised Class X date sheet and Revised Class XII date sheet. A broader rescheduling notice is available at CBSE rescheduling notice.
In addition to the Class 10 changes, CBSE has moved the Class 12 level studies paper. That examination was originally scheduled for 3 March and will now be held on 10 April. The board emphasised that examinations not mentioned in the revised timetables will be conducted as per the earlier schedule.
CBSE asked school principals to inform students and parents as soon as possible so that candidates can prepare without disruption. The board said the decision was taken to ensure examinations are held under proper administrative arrangements and to avoid any logistical difficulties on exam days.
For students, the practical implications are straightforward. Candidates in the affected subjects should note the new dates and revise their personal timetables. Those arranging travel, supervision or other arrangements for exam days should update plans to match the revised schedule. Schools are responsible for communicating these changes and for ensuring exam-day protocols are in place.
Education experts said timetable adjustments, while inconvenient, are not unusual and are often required to accommodate administrative constraints, venue availability or staffing needs. CBSE has reiterated that it aims to preserve the integrity of the examinations and reduce stress for candidates by giving schools time to make necessary arrangements.
Candidates and guardians seeking confirmation should refer only to the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in and the PDF notices linked above. Any further queries can be directed to the respective school administrations, which received the official instructions on 29 December.
CBSE’s prompt release of the revised date sheet should allow sufficient time for students to adjust their preparation schedules. The board reiterated that all other papers will proceed according to the previously published timetable.
