Ahmed Kutty, a 53-year-old native of Mukkam in Kozhikode district, has died in Al Qassim, Saudi Arabia. Mr Kutty was a prominent member of the Malayali expatriate community in the Kingdom, serving as a national executive member of the Wisdom Islamic Organization and as president of the Indian Islahi Centre in the Qassim region. Local sources confirm that he passed away on arrival in Qassim and was buried there.

Kozhikode native dies in Saudi Arabia

Mr Kutty, known to friends and colleagues as Ahmed, had been active in community work among Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia. His leadership roles included coordinating welfare activities and supporting newly arrived migrants seeking assistance with documentation and basic services. Colleagues in the Wisdom Islamic Organization described him as dedicated to community service and a familiar figure at social and religious events.

Born in Mukkam, Mr Kutty was the son of the late Karatt Kunjoyi. He is survived by his wife, CP Ayesha Nellikaparamb, and their children: Anas Ahmed, who is currently based in the United Kingdom; Aslam, a student; Asma Ahmed; and Amaan Ahmed. The family also includes extended relatives and in-laws who remain in contact across Kerala and the Gulf.

Reports indicate that Mr Kutty died at his residence in Qassim. Local authorities and community representatives coordinated the necessary arrangements, and the burial took place in Saudi Arabia in accordance with local procedures. Further details regarding the circumstances of his death have not been publicly disclosed.

The death of Mr Kutty is a reminder of the sizeable Malayali expatriate community that lives and works across the Gulf Cooperation Council states. Many from Kerala have long established themselves in Saudi Arabia, contributing to a range of sectors from construction and services to community organisations and religious bodies. Community leaders often play a critical role in providing social support, guidance and representation for migrants living far from home.

Family members and community representatives in Kozhikode have expressed their sadness and extended condolences. Those who knew Mr Kutty highlighted his commitment to organising events for expatriates and his efforts to assist families in times of need. Members of the Wisdom Islamic Organization and the Indian Islahi Centre are expected to hold memorial gatherings in the weeks ahead, both in Saudi Arabia and in Kerala, to commemorate his life and service.

For many families in Kerala, news of an expatriate’s death abroad prompts a complex set of consular, logistical and emotional challenges. In recent years, community organisations and Indian consular missions have worked to streamline support for bereaved families, including assistance with documentation and facilitating contact between authorities and relatives back home.

At this stage, the primary details released publicly concern Mr Kutty’s community roles, family and the location of his burial. Further announcements from family representatives or community organisations may clarify plans for memorial services in Kerala and any arrangements for relatives wishing to visit Saudi Arabia.

Those seeking to offer condolences or obtain additional information are advised to contact the Indian community organisations in Al Qassim or the local consulate for guidance.
