More than 700 security personnel have been mobilised by the Government of Pará to secure the Vira Pará New Year celebrations at the Mangueirão stadium in Belém. The operation, run by the State Public Security System, forms part of Operation Festas Seguras, which has been in place since 5 December to ensure safety at year-end events across the state.
The free cultural programme, staged in the stadium car park, features performances by Joelma, Nattan, Gaby Amarantos, Natanzinho Lima, Carol Lyne and the traditional Carabao sound system, which will close the night as 2026 begins. Authorities have emphasised that the event has been planned to allow residents to celebrate safely and without charge.

Segup (the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defence) will carry out prevention and visible patrols, maintaining permanent rounds inside and around the site. Organisers have installed CCTV cameras to provide continuous video monitoring of the stadium perimeter and adjacent areas, enabling the Centre of Command to direct resources in real time.
“Our teams are working with commitment to guarantee entertainment for our population with renowned artists,” said Ualame Machado, Secretary of State for Public Security and Social Defence. He added that the scale of the operation required structured logistics and closer collaboration among security forces to monitor and inspect both the immediate surroundings and the stadium car park.
To improve response times, a mobile Segup centre is stationed in the Mangueirão car park. The unit functions as a command post and an incident reporting point, bringing together representatives from the various security agencies to streamline communication and speed operational response to any incidents.
The Delegacia do Torcedor e Grandes Eventos, based at the stadium, is also active with Civil Police teams prepared to carry out required procedures during the event. That specialised unit is intended to manage reports connected to large gatherings and supporter-related matters.
Supporting the on-site command structure, the Operational Command Centre (CCO) aggregates focal points from each security force to monitor camera feeds in real time. The CCO will coordinate operational responses together with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (CICC) if necessary, ensuring swift, joined-up action across agencies.
Polícia Militar will lead overt patrols both inside and outside the Mangueirão, supported by the Belém Municipal Guard. Road safety and traffic flow have been prioritised by the State Traffic Department (Detran), working alongside the Road Police Battalion (BPRV) and the Municipal Secretariat for Security, Public Order and Mobility (Segbel) to manage access routes and keep traffic moving smoothly.
Authorities emphasise agility in incident handling: agents will remain on standby for rescue operations and other calls from the public, while the on-site command facilities aim to reduce reporting and response times. With integrated monitoring, visible patrols and dedicated incident units in place, the government says it expects the Vira Pará celebrations to take place safely and peacefully as residents welcome 2026.
