Brazil’s New Year tradition delivered big excitement on the morning of 1 January when the Mega da Virada winning numbers were revealed. The numbers drawn in the special year‑end lottery were 9, 13, 21, 32, 33 and 59. The draw, organised by Caixa Económica Federal, attracted heavy interest across the country after being delayed to the morning of the first day of the year for technical reasons.

The Mega da Virada is one of Brazil’s most eagerly awaited lottery events. It routinely draws greater participation than regular draws as casual players and habitual bettors alike buy tickets in the hope of starting the year with a life‑changing prize. This year’s contest was no different, with thousands of people lining up at licensed outlets and surging to online channels in the hours before the draw.

The official sequence of numbers for this edition is 9, 13, 21, 32, 33 and 59. Unlike many standard lotteries, the Mega da Virada does not accumulate. If no ticket matches all six numbers, the jackpot amount is shared among winners in the next prize bracket. That rule ensures the prize fund is always paid out in full, even when there is no top‑tier winner.

Caixa confirmed the draw followed its rules and procedures despite the earlier postponement. The institution urged bettors to check their tickets and to follow the formal claiming process for any prizes. Lower‑value prizes can be collected at authorised retail locations, while higher amounts require collection at Caixa bank branches, with identity documents presented alongside the winning ticket.

The Mega da Virada’s popularity goes beyond mere gambling. For many Brazilians the draw forms part of New Year celebrations, combining hope and speculation with festive tradition. The event also provides a notable injection of economic activity as thousands of transactions take place across the country in both physical shops and on digital platforms.

Organisers emphasised the importance of safeguarding tickets. Winners should verify the numbers against the official announcement and retain their original ticket. For prizes above the threshold set by Caixa, winners need to visit agency branches to complete identification checks. The bank has published guidance on its website and through its customer channels explaining how and where to claim prizes.

Reports from across Brazil described busy scenes in lottery houses and long queues at points of sale in the hours before the draw. Digital sales also saw a notable uptick as many players opted to use online channels to avoid queues. Caixa’s decision to delay the draw to the morning of 1 January was attributed to technical issues, and the institution said the postponement allowed it to carry out final checks to secure the integrity of the contest.

For those who did not win the jackpot, the Mega da Virada still offers multiple prize tiers. Participants who matched fewer numbers may still receive payouts, depending on how many winners there are in each category. In the event of any questions about claims or prize amounts, Caixa advises players to consult official communications and to avoid unofficial intermediaries.

The draw remains a high‑profile fixture in Brazil’s holiday calendar and a weekly reminder of the enduring public appetite for large, one‑off prizes. With the official numbers now published, winners have been encouraged to act promptly and to follow Caixa’s verified claiming procedures.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mega da Virada results announced: 9, 13, 21, 32, 33, 59.
  • The special draw does not roll over; if there is no jackpot winner, prizes are shared with the next tier.
  • High turnout at retail outlets and digital channels after a technical delay moved the draw to the morning of 1 January.
  • Tickets must be presented with ID at licensed Caixa outlets or agencies to claim prizes.
