Madikeri’s Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute, Allied Health Sciences College, has announced walk-in admissions to fill remaining seats across several undergraduate allied health courses. Eligible candidates with the required KEA and RGUHS qualifications may attend registration in person on 8 January between 09:00 and 16:00.

Madikeri medical college admissions and walk-in process

The college has made available seats in both first and second year BSc programmes. First-year vacancies include 11 seats for Medical Laboratory Technology, 20 seats for Medical Imaging Technology, 20 seats for Optometry, and 19 seats for Respiratory Care Technology. Second-year vacancies include 15 seats for Medical Laboratory Technology, 11 seats for Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, 19 seats for Medical Imaging Technology, 20 seats for Respiratory Care Technology, and 18 seats for Optometry.

Admission will be conducted on a merit basis. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility requirements set by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) are invited to appear in person with their original documents at the Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute campus in Madikeri. Registration and verification will be completed on the day, and successful applicants will be offered admission subject to document verification.

Director and Dean of the Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute issued the announcement, noting that the walk-in admission provides a direct route for eligible students to secure a place without waiting for further allotment rounds. This measure is intended to ensure that available seats are utilised for the academic year and to support the training pipeline for allied health professionals in the region.

The walk-in admission format is commonly used to fill last-minute vacancies. Applicants should bring original certificates proving academic qualifications, identity documents, proof of residency where applicable, and any other documents specified by KEA and RGUHS. Candidates are advised to arrive early to complete registration within the specified time window.

Filling these seats has broader implications for local healthcare capacity. Allied health professionals, including laboratory technologists, imaging technologists, optometrists, respiratory care practitioners and operation theatre technologists, play a central role in diagnostic and therapeutic services. Increasing the number of trained personnel helps hospitals and clinics meet rising demand, particularly in semi-urban and rural districts.

Prospective students who are uncertain about their eligibility should consult the KEA and RGUHS guidelines or contact the Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute directly before attending. The announcement underlines that admission decisions will follow merit order and verification of original records on the day of registration.

In summary, the Madikeri walk-in admissions present an immediate opportunity for qualifying students to join allied health degree programmes, with the college taking steps to ensure transparent and merit-based selection. Candidates planning to attend should prepare their original documents and arrive within the 9:00 to 16:00 registration window on 8 January to be considered for available seats.

Key Takeaways:

  • Madikeri medical college admissions open for multiple BSc allied health courses with vacant seats available.
  • Walk-in admission on 8 January from 09:00 to 16:00 at Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute, Madikeri; selection by merit.
  • Eligible candidates must meet KEA and RGUHS criteria and bring original documents for registration.
  • The initiative aims to fill vacant seats and strengthen local healthcare training opportunities.
