India’s Vice‑President, C. P. Radhakrishnan, is undertaking a two‑day visit to Tamil Nadu, with a packed schedule of academic, cultural and civic engagements in Chennai and Vellore, the Office of the Vice‑President said.

C. P. Radhakrishnan Chennai visit schedule

On the first day of the tour (Friday), the Vice‑President will attend a convocation ceremony at a private university in Chennai in the morning. Immediately following the academic event, he will be present at a function at the Natchathira venue, before taking part in an evening public reception at the Chennai Kalaivanar Arangam.

Later in the evening the Vice‑President will attend a civic reception at Lok Bhavan hosted by Governor R. N. Ravi. These engagements mark a blend of academic recognition and public outreach, underscoring the officeholder’s role in both ceremonial and community events.

On the second day (Saturday), Mr Radhakrishnan is scheduled to travel to Vellore to participate in the 50th golden celebration (Ponvizha) at the Velur Ponkoil, commemorating the jubilee of a local religious and cultural institution referred to in local sources as Sakthi Amma’s anniversary. In the afternoon he will return to Chennai to attend the Siddhar Day event at the Chennai Thiruvallikeni Kalaivanar Arangam.

The Vice‑President’s office has provided the itinerary details. The visits combine formal duties, religious and community observances and public receptions, allowing the Vice‑President to engage with academic institutions, cultural organisations and civic authorities across the region.

Officials said the schedule is intended to acknowledge local institutions and communities. Convocations allow the Vice‑President to confer degrees and address graduates, while cultural and civic receptions provide a platform to interact with residents, civic leaders and representatives of arts organisations.

Security and protocol arrangements for visits of this nature are co‑ordinated between the Vice‑President’s staff, state authorities and local hosts. Governor R. N. Ravi’s hosting of a civic reception at Lok Bhavan underlines the ceremonial partnership between central and state offices during such visits.

Mr Radhakrishnan’s engagement in both Vellore and Chennai reflects a pattern of outreach that includes recognition of regional cultural milestones such as the 50th golden jubilee at Velur, alongside participation in commemorative events like Siddhar Day. The Vice‑President’s presence at these events is likely to draw local political and civic leaders, as well as members of the public.

The Vice‑President’s office confirmed the programme and asked that members of the public refer to official channels for any changes to timings or venues. Local media and event organisers will provide further coverage as the events take place.

This two‑day tour emphasises ceremonial duties and community engagement, bringing national officeholders into direct contact with local institutions in Tamil Nadu.
