A newly constructed building for the Shivayogishwara English‑medium School at Inchal was formally opened in a ceremony attended by political leaders, religious figures and community members on Thursday. The event, held at the Inchal Shivayogishwara Sadhu Sansthana math, celebrated the school’s role in expanding access to higher‑quality education for children from rural backgrounds.
MLA Lakshman Savadi praised the work of the school’s founder, Shivānanda Bharati, and the educational trust that runs the institution. He said the organisation has made an exceptional contribution to providing advanced schooling for underprivileged children in the region. Savadi also announced plans to mark the founder’s birth centenary in a large celebration in the coming year.
Mahantesh Koujalagi, who chaired the ceremony, described himself as a devoted supporter of the Inchal math and noted that the institution’s blessings have contributed to the community’s wellbeing. Vidhana Parishad member Hanumant Nirani urged residents to follow the example of devotion and service demonstrated by the math’s leaders, saying such faith can lend purpose to life.
Bailhongal English‑medium school: a boost for rural education
The new facility, completed within a year, was commended by officials for enhancing the school’s capacity to deliver instruction in English while maintaining its cultural and religious roots. Dr Eshwar Ullagaddi, Additional Commissioner of the Dharwad School Education Department, addressed the gathering, underlining the importance of infrastructure in improving learning outcomes.
Shivānanda Bharati Swamiji of the Inchal Sadhu Sansthana performed the inauguration and spoke about the school’s mission. Several other spiritual leaders and representatives of neighbouring maths attended, including Dr Mahantaprabhu of the Viraktamath, Chidananda Swamiji of Mallapur Galeshwar Math and Poornananda Bharati, the institution’s administrative head.
The ceremony also honoured a number of contributors and achievers from the community. Local dignitaries present included former legislators Mahantesh Dodagouda and Mahadevappa Yadavada, entrepreneur Vijay Metagudda, Parappa Savadi, Shankar Madalagi, legislator Duryodhana Aihole and tehsildar Hanumant Shirhatti, among others. Cultural and religious elements of the event included devotional songs and prayers led by Baba Nayak Rayanayak, and addresses from CPI representative Shivānanda Gudaganatti and M.B. Khannagowda.
School organisers emphasised that the investment in the new building reflects a broader commitment to educational upliftment in rural Karnataka. By offering English‑medium instruction alongside traditional values, the school aims to equip local children with the language skills and confidence required for further education and employment.
Community members described the inauguration as both a celebration of past efforts and a statement of intent for the future. Organisers indicated plans for expanded programmes and a series of events to mark the centenary year of the institution’s founder, aiming to attract wider support and resources for ongoing development.
As rural regions seek to bridge educational gaps, projects such as the Shivayogishwara school’s new building serve as visible examples of how local leadership, religious institutions and state agencies can collaborate to improve access to quality schooling. Attendees said the upgraded facilities will help sustain the school’s mission of serving disadvantaged children and preparing them for opportunities beyond the village.
