Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday unveiled the official website of the Himachal Pradesh Scheduled Castes Commission (HPSCC), a move the state government said will improve transparency and make key information more accessible to citizens.

Speaking at the launch in Shimla, Mr Sukhu said the government’s aim is balanced and inclusive development that benefits all sections of society. He said the new online portal would allow users to obtain Commission information with a single click, aiding both beneficiaries and officials responsible for implementing welfare schemes.
“The Scheduled Castes Commission plays a crucial role in ensuring welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries and in shaping social attitudes,” Mr Sukhu said. He added that the website would strengthen oversight and help drive positive change for marginalised communities across the state.
HPSCC chairman Kuldeep Kumar Dhiman, members Digvijay Malhotra and Vijay Dogra, and senior Commission officers attended the launch. Officials said the portal will host details on Commission members, reports, grievance redressal procedures and guidance on how residents can access benefits.
State officials noted that the website forms part of a broader push to modernise governance and improve public services. In remarks made earlier as the state marked the New Year, Mr Sukhu reaffirmed his commitment to building a “Self-Reliant Himachal” and said the administration would pursue reforms across agriculture, healthcare, education and infrastructure to make services more efficient and accessible.
Mr Sukhu also said the government will prioritise green and sustainable energy to preserve the state’s natural beauty and will promote high-technology industries to create new jobs. Those initiatives, he said, align with the state’s vision of “Vyavastha Parivartan” and aim to deliver long-term economic benefits while protecting the environment.
Officials expect the HPSCC website to reduce delays in welfare delivery by providing clear information on eligibility criteria and application procedures. The portal is also intended to improve accountability by publishing Commission findings and updates on corrective action.
Advocates for scheduled castes welcomed the launch. They said online access can play an important role in reaching remote communities, provided the government pairs digital tools with outreach and support to help citizens who lack internet access.
The launch comes amid efforts by the state government to modernise public systems and enhance transparency. By centralising Commission resources online, Himachal Pradesh aims to make it easier for residents to find information and lodge complaints, and for officials to track and respond to grievances promptly.
As the state moves forward with digital initiatives and policy reforms, officials say they will monitor the website’s performance and gather feedback to ensure it meets the needs of marginalised groups. The government has pledged further steps to strengthen welfare delivery and sustain economic growth while protecting the environment.
