AFCOM Strengthens India Operations with Third Aircraft Induction

AFCOM Holdings Limited has added a third aircraft to its fleet, a move that the company says will strengthen its operational capacity and support an expanding cargo network from Chennai. The aircraft received a ceremonial water cannon salute on arrival at Chennai International Airport on 30 December 2025, underlining the significance of the expansion for the companys domestic and international operations.

AFCOM fleet expansion India strengthens capacity

The additional aircraft arrives at a moment of rising demand for air cargo services across sectors that depend on reliable, time-sensitive logistics. AFCOM, listed on the BSE (544224), operates across multiple domestic and international routes and singled out Chennai as a strategic operational hub. The new asset is intended to enhance flight frequency and flexibility on key trade lanes while enabling the carrier to better serve specialised cargo requirements.

Company leadership framed the induction as a measured step in a longer-term strategy. Capt. Deepak Parasuraman, Chairman and Managing Director of AFCOM Holdings Limited, said the third aircraft “strengthens our operating platform and enhances our ability to serve customers across expanding trade lanes.” He added that the company remains focused on disciplined growth while building a reliable and scalable cargo network.

The move is likely to improve AFCOMs ability to transport goods that require fast transit times, such as pharmaceuticals, electronics and perishables. By increasing available lift and routing options from Chennai, the firm can respond more swiftly to customer needs and optimise schedules to match cargo flows. This may also attract new customers looking for dependable point-to-point cargo solutions as supply chains adapt to changing trade patterns.

Operationally, the aircraft induction will allow AFCOM to deploy capacity more flexibly across domestic sectors and expanding international services. The company cited three strategic priorities: network expansion, customer diversification and disciplined capacity deployment. These priorities indicate a tactical approach to scaling that aims to balance market opportunity with cost control and service reliability.

Industry analysts note that smaller, specialised cargo operators play a key role in filling gaps left by larger carriers, especially on niche routes and for urgent consignments. An expanded fleet enables AFCOM to offer higher service frequency and quicker turnarounds. For regional economies, enhanced air-cargo connectivity can support exporters, manufacturers and e-commerce players by reducing lead times and broadening market access.

Looking ahead, AFCOM is positioning itself to benefit from growth in cross-border trade and evolving supply-chain demands. As companies diversify sourcing and seek faster logistics solutions, demand for scheduled and ad-hoc cargo capacity has risen. AFCOMs decision to base increased capacity around Chennai underscores the citys role as a logistics hub in southern India, with strong links to both domestic markets and international gateways.

While the induction of a single aircraft does not alone transform market dynamics, it is a tangible sign of incremental capacity building at a time when the air-cargo sector is adapting to tighter timelines and shifting trade flows. AFCOMs emphasis on disciplined expansion suggests the company intends to scale operations in a measured way that maintains service quality and financial prudence.

The aircrafts arrival concludes with optimism from AFCOMs management that the expanded fleet will enable better service for customers and support the companys ambitions to grow its footprint across important trade lanes.

Key Takeaways:

  • AFCOM has inducted its third aircraft at Chennai, bolstering its cargo capacity and network reach.
  • The induction supports time-sensitive and specialised cargo services as cross-border trade grows.
  • Focus on disciplined growth: AFCOM aims for network expansion, customer diversification and efficient capacity deployment.
