Event format and judging focus
Finalists took part in evening gown, bikini and áo dài segments before a top 10 were selected for the final question-and-answer round. Panellists asked about love of homeland, the responsibilities of younger generations and the protection of Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.
In her closing answer, Vũ Thu Hằng said that the sea will be protected when every Vietnamese not only values the ocean’s beauty but also understands the sacred nature of the nation’s maritime claims. She stressed that protecting the sea preserves culture and the environment while affirming sovereignty peacefully and with resolve. She specifically affirmed that Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa are part of Vietnam.
Judges said her response demonstrated conviction and civic awareness, qualities that contributed to her final victory.
Background and significance
Born in 1994, Vũ Thu Hằng graduated in public relations from Hoa Binh University and has pursued a career in the arts. She was runner-up in the Micro Vàng competition in 2019, an experience she credits with sharpening her stage presence and professionalism. Hằng said she entered Miss Sea Vietnam 2025 to test her own abilities and to engage young people with the sea and island causes.
Organisers framed the contest as more than a beauty pageant. With a strong tourism angle and an environmental theme, the event sought to connect popular culture with national priorities: youth engagement, coastal conservation and a peaceful assertion of territorial rights. Holding the final on 31 December offered a high-profile platform for those messages as the country moved into the new year.
The contest’s dual focus on culture and civic duty reflects a broader trend in Vietnamese pageantry, where contestants are increasingly judged on public advocacy and social awareness as well as aesthetics.
