COOPI Ethiopia, the local arm of the international development organisation Cooperazione Internazionale, has invited qualified and licensed audit firms to submit proposals to conduct its annual external audit for the year ended 2025. The selected firm will carry out audits for three consecutive years, beginning with the 2025 financial year.
COOPI Ethiopia external audit
Established in 1965 globally and operating in Ethiopia since 1995, COOPI runs programmes across water resources, emergency response and development, WASH and sanitation, and capacity building. The organisation delivers projects from its country office in Addis Ababa and field offices in Oromia, Afar, Amhara, Tigray and Somali Regions. The forthcoming audit will be conducted at COOPI Ethiopia’s head office in Addis Ababa.
The request for proposals (RFP) sets out that interested firms must be legally licensed and demonstrate relevant experience in auditing international non-governmental organisations. Bidders are required to submit separate technical and financial proposals, each in sealed envelopes, in accordance with the terms of reference (TOR) supplied by COOPI.
Submission details are explicit: proposals should be delivered to COOPI’s Addis Ababa office at Bole Sub‑city, Wereda 6, House No-088. The window for submission runs from Monday 29/12/2025 to Monday 12/01/2026 between 08:30 and 17:00 on working days. COOPI stated that bids received after the deadline will not be considered.
Interested firms must request the full TOR by emailing logistic.eth@coopi.org or log.ethiopia@coopi.org. The TOR will specify the audit scope, documentation requirements, evaluation criteria and any statutory compliance matters bidders must meet.
COOPI emphasised that the audit engagement will cover its accounts for three consecutive years starting from the year ended 2025. While audits will be carried out at the head office, auditors should expect to review records relating to programmes implemented across multiple regions in Ethiopia.
The organisation reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids prior to award without incurring liability. This standard procurement safeguard allows COOPI to ensure transparency and to select the most suitable firm that meets its financial control and reporting standards.
For prospective bidders, the announcement offers a clear timetable and contact points for queries. Firms with a track record in auditing development-sector organisations and the capacity to comply with COOPI’s TOR are encouraged to prepare comprehensive technical and financial proposals and to seek clarification promptly via the provided email addresses.
COOPI’s procurement of an external auditor aligns with routine governance and compliance practices for international NGOs operating in multiple regions. A robust external audit contributes to financial transparency, donor confidence and the effective delivery of humanitarian and development programmes across Ethiopia.
