Disney 2026 Cinema Lineup Arrives in Brazil with Toy Story 5 and The Mandalorian

Disney has revealed a packed cinema calendar for 2026 that is set to bring major franchise entries and new animated features to screens in Brazil and around the world. The announced slate alternates releases among Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Disney’s main studio, offering a steady stream of tentpole titles across the year.

Disney 2026 releases in Brazil drive cinema calendar

The year begins on 5 March with Pixar’s 30th feature, Hoppers (released in Portuguese as Cara de Um, Focinho de Outro). The original tale positions itself in Pixar’s tradition of imaginative premises, following a girl who transfers her consciousness into a robotic beaver. That family-friendly offering precedes a series of high-profile launches that aim to attract a wide range of audiences.

Star Wars returns to cinemas on 21 May with The Mandalorian & Grogu, bringing Pedro Pascal and Grogu from the Disney+ series to the big screen for the first time since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The film marks a notable migration of a streaming hit to theatrical release and is expected to generate strong interest among Brazilian Star Wars fans.

Pixar then returns on 18 June with Toy Story 5, which revisits Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends as they confront the growing prominence of digital devices among children. The sequel introduces LilyPad, a child-friendly tablet character, and explores how toys adapt to changing play habits.

On 10 July, Disney will release a live-action adaptation of Moana starring Catherine Laga’aia and Dwayne Johnson as Maui. The film arrives nearly a decade after the original animated feature and continues Disney’s strategy of turning popular animated titles into live-action productions to attract both nostalgic adults and new family audiences.

Sony’s Spider-Man universe also features on the schedule with Spider-Man: A New Day, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and newcomer Sadie Sink, set for 30 July. Although Spider-Man is a Sony production, its inclusion in the wider blockbuster calendar underscores the crowded summer season that theatres in Brazil can expect.

Walt Disney Animation Studios will position a family-oriented original, Hexed, for the Thanksgiving window on 25 November. The film follows a clumsy teenager and his perfectionist mother as they discover magical powers and enter a hidden world of magic — a likely draw for holiday audiences in Brazil.

The year concludes with a major Marvel entry, Avengers: Doomsday, on 18 December. Positioned as the 40th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and part of the Multiverse saga, the movie is billed as a big-screen event and is notable for reports of Robert Downey Jr. returning in a key role.

Industry analysts say the lineup could provide a much-needed boost to box offices in markets such as Brazil, where theatrical attendance has been recovering since the pandemic. The mix of franchise sequels, live-action adaptations and original animation reflects Disney’s dual strategy of leveraging established IP while investing in new family-focused stories.

With the streaming-versus-cinema debate ongoing, Disney’s decision to place high-profile titles on theatrical schedules emphasises the company’s continued belief in the theatrical experience. For Brazilian exhibitors, 2026 promises a steady stream of headline films that may help drive ticket sales and sustain audience interest throughout the year.

Key Takeaways:

  • Disney 2026 releases in Brazil include major franchise returns such as The Mandalorian & Grogu and Toy Story 5.
  • Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Disney releases are spread across the year to bolster global box office and Brazilian cinema attendance.
  • Live-action Moana and Pixar’s Hoppers reflect the studio’s mix of adaptations and original animation aimed at families.
  • Avengers: Doomsday scheduled for December could cap the year with a blockbuster drawing international audiences.
