Duy Tan University consolidated a year of progress in 2025, moving up international rankings, deepening overseas partnerships and posting a string of research and accreditation milestones that boost its profile both in Vietnam and across the region.
Duy Tan University 2025 achievements
The university rose 13 places in the QS World University Rankings 2026 to 482nd globally, securing its place among the world’s Top 500. Times Higher Education placed the institution within the global Top 600+, while the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) listed Duy Tan at 969th worldwide, 309th in Asia and first in Vietnam. These gains reflect sustained investment in teaching, research and internationalisation.
On 12 August 2025, in Seoul, Duy Tan signed a memorandum of agreement with Chungbuk National University (CBNU) to develop joint training, research and capacity-building initiatives. The partnership aims to form strong collaborative research groups in basic sciences and engineering, and to sustain laboratory and researcher exchanges between Vietnam and South Korea. CBNU underlined its commitment by opening a CBNU Global Centre at Duy Tan’s Quang Trung campus in April 2025.
Domestically, Duy Tan was singled out in the Prime Minister’s decision approving the Higher Education Network plan to 2030, which designates four urban higher education centres in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. Duy Tan is one of seven core universities identified for these urban hubs and the only private provider named as a lead institution in Da Nang, positioning the university to play a central role in regional development and skills supply.
Research capacity at Duy Tan drew international recognition. Elsevier’s Top 100,000 influential scientists list for 2025 included 11 academics from the university, four of whom ranked among the world’s top 10,000. Research.com also ranked several Duy Tan scholars highly across engineering, computer science and environmental science. Additionally, two researchers from the university featured among the Best Rising Stars of Science in the World 2025 list.
Accreditation milestones strengthened the university’s technical education portfolio. Two programmes—Food Technology and Construction Engineering Technology—gained ETAC ABET accreditation in August 2025, bringing Duy Tan’s total ABET-accredited programmes to six, one of the highest tallies among Vietnamese institutions.
Scientific discoveries this year included the identification of Fusarium stercicola and Fusarium babinda as pathogens threatening Ngoc Linh ginseng, published in the European Journal of Plant Pathology. Duy Tan researchers also reported Streptomyces strains with potential biocontrol properties that may aid conservation of this valuable medicinal plant. In herpetology, the team announced a new pit viper species, Protobothrops flavirostris, contributing to knowledge of regional biodiversity and informing conservation efforts.
The university hosted the ASEAN–Korea Roundtable on Tourism in July 2025, attracting senior policymakers and industry leaders to discuss infrastructure, security and skills development for sustainable tourism. Duy Tan also helped found a Mid-Central and Central Highlands higher education network in July 2025, prioritising digital transformation and artificial intelligence as drivers for collaborative teaching and research to 2030.
Public engagement continued with a joint exhibition on Vietnamese insect diversity at the Da Nang Museum, the first of its kind organised by two universities and drawing national and international visitors to exhibits and research displays.
Taken together, Duy Tan’s 2025 milestones underline a forward trajectory in academic quality, international partnership and applied research. The university’s blend of global accreditation, high-impact scholarship and regional leadership indicates a widening role in Vietnam’s higher education landscape and greater integration with international research networks.
