The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has published the provisional list of candidates called for verification of original certificates and oral test for Group-I Services under the Meritorious Sports Category. The commission said the verification and interviews will be conducted at its office opposite Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada on 7 January.

APPSC Group-I interview details

The candidates named on the commission’s list are those who qualified on the basis of the Main (Written) Examination, which was held from 3 to 9 May 2025. The APPSC statement confirmed that provisional admission for verification of original certificates is a prerequisite to appearing in the oral test.

Individual call letters will be dispatched to shortlisted candidates by post and by email, the commission added. Candidates who do not receive a call letter in good time are advised to consult the APPSC website — www.psc.ap.gov.in — for updates and the hosted list.

On the day of verification and interview, applicants must bring all original educational, identity and sports-related certificates as listed in the official notification. These typically include a valid photo identity proof, degree or diploma certificates, proof of sports achievements that qualify under the Meritorious Sports Category, and any other documents specified in the APPSC communication. Photocopies and authorised attestations may be required for commission use.

Security and entry procedures will be in place at the commission office. Candidates should allow sufficient time for travel and admission checks, and plan their journey to Vijayawada accordingly. Those who require assistance or further clarification are advised to contact the commission through the helpline or email addresses provided on the APPSC portal.

About the process: Group-I Services recruit candidates for senior administrative positions in the state civil service. Selection generally follows a three-stage process — preliminary examination, main (written) examination and the oral test or interview. For candidates under the Meritorious Sports Category, performance in recognised sporting events and fulfilment of prescribed criteria are central to eligibility and ranking.

The commission’s publication of the provisional list marks a key step towards finalising appointments for the posts advertised under Group-I. Candidates who clear certificate verification and perform satisfactorily in the oral test will progress to the final selection stage. APPSC has urged all applicants to check the official website regularly for any corrigenda, timing changes or additional instructions.

Practical advice for attendees: verify the spelling of names and registration numbers on the call letter; carry printed and digital copies of the call letter; ensure all original documents are organised and easily accessible; and keep multiple identity proofs. Early arrival is recommended to avoid last-minute delays.

This announcement follows the Main Examination conducted in May 2025. With the interviews scheduled for 7 January, successful candidates and observers will watch closely as the commission completes the verification and oral assessment phases that determine final appointments to Group-I Services in Andhra Pradesh.

Key Takeaways:

  • APPSC has listed candidates provisionally admitted for certificate verification and oral test for Group-I (Meritorious Sports) following the May 2025 Main Examination.
  • Verification of original certificates and interviews will take place on 7 January at the Commission office in Vijayawada; individual call letters will be sent by post and email.
  • Candidates should carry original certificates and follow instructions on the APPSC website for updates and travel planning.
