Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has announced that the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme will roll out from April, with the aim of sanctioning homes for all eligible poor families in the State. The announcement came during a tour of Kalluru mandal in Khammam district, where the minister was accompanied by District Collector Anudeep Durishetty and local MLA Matta Ragamayi Dayanand.
Indiramma housing scheme
Mr Reddy said the government remains committed to ensuring that every eligible household secures a permanent residence. He noted that the first phase of the scheme sanctioned 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses across the State, with an allocation of 3,500 houses for each Assembly constituency. The rollout, he said, was being closely managed: funds are released every Monday according to the stage of construction reached by beneficiaries.
“As promised, we will fulfil the dream of every poor family of owning a house,” the minister told local residents, stressing both the social and economic importance of home ownership. He added that the second tranche of allotments would be launched from April and urged eligible families to complete documentation and construction milestones to receive timely payments.
During the visit, Mr Reddy laid the foundation stone for four major blacktop (BT) road projects valued at an estimated ₹15 crore. The road works, intended to improve connectivity within the mandal, form part of the government’s parallel focus on welfare and infrastructure development.
Officials said the combined approach seeks to accelerate local growth while improving living standards. Funding tied to construction stages is intended to minimise delays and ensure resources reach beneficiaries promptly. The minister’s comments indicate that administrative systems for verifying progress and disbursing funds have been tightened to maintain regular weekly releases.
Mr Reddy also used the occasion to highlight a range of welfare measures implemented by the government over the past nine months. He cited the extension of farm loan waivers worth ₹21,000 crore that benefited around 25 lakh farmers, the introduction of free bus travel for women, distribution of fine rice to eligible households, the issuance of new ration cards and a 40% increase in diet charges for Gurukul students.
Local leaders at the gatherings praised the initiative as a practical step towards social stability and inclusive development. Beneficiaries present at the events expressed optimism that the fresh phase of housing allotments and the road projects would improve both quality of life and access to markets and services.
Government sources indicated that the administration plans to monitor the April launch closely and would publish schedules for constituency-wise allotments in the coming weeks. The objective is to maintain transparency and allow residents to track the status of construction-linked payments.
With the second phase set to begin next month, officials say the focus will remain on completing sanctioned units swiftly while ensuring equitable distribution. The combined push on housing and local infrastructure reflects a continuing emphasis on welfare-led development as the State moves into the next stage of its public service agenda.
