The Uttar Pradesh government has launched one of its largest police recruitment drives, announcing 32,679 vacancies across a range of posts including constable, special security force and jail warder. The official notification was published on 31 December 2025 and the window to apply closes on 30 January 2026.

UP Police Recruitment 2026: key vacancies and eligibility

The vacancies have been allocated as follows: 10,469 posts for general constables (male/female), 15,131 for PAC/armed police constables, 1,341 for the Special Security Force, 2,282 for women’s battalion constables (Lucknow, Budaun, Gorakhpur), 71 for mounted police constables (male), 3,279 for male jail warders and 106 for female jail warders.

Academic eligibility for all the advertised posts is straightforward. Candidates must have passed the 12th standard from a recognised board. Age criteria differ by category and gender. For male candidates the required age on 1 July 2025 is between 18 and 22 years, which corresponds to dates of birth between 2 July 2003 and 1 July 2007 (inclusive). Female candidates must be between 18 and 25 years on the same reference date, with corresponding birth dates between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2007 (inclusive). Relaxation in upper-age limits will be provided to candidates from reserved categories, freedom fighters’ dependants and other categories as per government norms.

How to apply and important dates

Interested candidates must first complete a One Time Registration (OTR) on the official recruitment portal. The recruitment board’s portal is available at uppbpb.gov.in; candidates may also check upprpb.in for information. During OTR, applicants should register with a valid email address and mobile number, upload required documents and create a password.

After completing OTR, candidates should use their registration credentials to access the application form, fill in all required details, upload supporting documents and pay the application fee. The deadline for submitting completed applications is 30 January 2026. Candidates are advised to download and retain a printed copy of the application form and fee receipt for future reference.

Selection process and fees

Selection for these posts will be multi-stage. Initially candidates must clear a written examination. Successful candidates will then undergo document verification, a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Physical Standard Test (PST). A medical examination will follow to confirm fitness for service.

Application fees are stated as Rs 500 for General, EWS and Other Backward Class candidates. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are required to pay Rs 400. Exact payment modes and fee-waiver details, where applicable, will be available in the official notification and on the recruitment portal.

This recruitment drive represents a significant intake for Uttar Pradesh Police and allied services, offering thousands of opportunities for young, 12th-pass candidates across the state. Prospective applicants should review the official notification carefully, ensure they meet eligibility criteria and complete the OTR and application process well before the closing date.
