Uttar Pradesh’s employment department placed 7,273 young people in jobs over the past year after organising 47 job fairs across the state, officials said. The Sevayojan department also provided career counselling to more than 10,000 jobseekers and registered 173,922 new candidates on its portal, highlighting an intensified push to connect youth with private-sector employers.
Uttar Pradesh jobs 2025 drive youth employment
The state reported an active year of placement activity. Some 2,870 companies registered on the Sevayojan portal rojgaarsangam.up.nic.in to advertise vacancies and participate in recruitment events. Through 2,080 smaller job fairs across districts, officials say 211,665 young people were offered positions in the private sector.
Large-scale recruitment drives accounted for a significant share of placements. The Employment Mahakumbh alone matched around 50,000 candidates with employers, while a three-day recruitment drive at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan resulted in 16,212 hires. Of those placed at the Indira Gandhi event, 1,645 secured positions abroad and 14,567 joined multinational companies.
Sevayojan director Neha Prakash described the year as the strongest in recent memory for placements, saying the combination of targeted counselling, digital registration and concentrated job fairs had boosted results. “For the first time we have seen a sustained upward movement in placements across urban and rural areas,” she said.
Salary offers varied by employer and location. Domestic companies offered annual packages ranging from INR 2.3 lakh to INR 6.9 lakh, while companies recruiting from Dubai extended offers between INR 2.2 lakh and INR 6 lakh. Officials stressed that the focus was not only on numbers but on improving the quality of placements and aligning skills with employer needs.
At the district level, the regional office at Lalbagh continued registering candidates and coordinating placements. District employment officer Pragya Tripathi confirmed that block-level fairs targeted rural jobseekers and helped widen the recruitment net beyond metropolitan centres. Assistant Director Suryakant Kumar said government teams proactively contacted companies to gather vacancy information and encourage participation in upcoming fairs.
Online registration played a central role in the campaign. Prospective candidates were invited to register and apply directly through the Sevayojan portal rojgaarsangam.up.nic.in, easing the application process for both jobseekers and employers. Officials reported that ease of registration contributed to the 173,922 new registrations during the year.
Looking ahead, the department has set an ambitious target to double the number of placements in the coming year. A new round of job fairs is scheduled for the second week of January as part of a continued effort to connect employers with a growing pool of skilled and entry-level candidates.
While state officials celebrated the progress, they acknowledged challenges remain, such as matching long-term career pathways with employer requirements and ensuring placements deliver sustainable livelihoods. Nevertheless, the year’s figures represent a notable step for Uttar Pradesh as it seeks to expand employment opportunities for its young population.
