IndiGo has launched a Gesture of Care (GoC) initiative to help passengers left stranded by widespread flight disruptions in early December 2025. The airline said the package is intended for travellers whose journeys were severely affected between 12:00 on 3 December and the end of 5 December 2025, following a period of operational instability that disrupted services across its network.
IndiGo compensation vouchers
Under the GoC scheme, eligible passengers will receive travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000, delivered as two vouchers of Rs 5,000 each. IndiGo stated that the vouchers will be issued per passenger, so multiple passengers on the same booking will each receive their own entitlement. Minors and infants are included; in such cases vouchers will be issued to a parent or guardian on their behalf.
To qualify, the passenger’s flight must have been delayed or cancelled within four hours of the scheduled departure and the total delay must have exceeded three hours. The airline said it applied these criteria to flights impacted between noon on 3 December and the end of 5 December 2025.
How to claim and receive vouchers
IndiGo will send eligible customers an email containing a secure voucher link. Where a customer does not have a registered email address with the airline, IndiGo will issue the vouchers within 24 hours of the passenger updating their contact details. The carrier has urged customers to ensure their contact information is up to date to avoid delays in receiving the vouchers.
Using the vouchers and key rules
The vouchers are single-use and non-transferable, issued in the passenger’s name. They remain valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. While the vouchers themselves cannot be transferred, IndiGo permits flexibility in travel dates: flights booked with the vouchers may be scheduled beyond the 12-month validity period, provided the booking is made within that timeframe.
Vouchers may be redeemed for flight bookings on IndiGo’s website as well as for add-ons such as meals, seat selection and excess baggage. IndiGo has stated that there are no fare-class limits, blackout dates or booking-type restrictions attached to the vouchers, which should simplify redemption for affected travellers.
Airline response and operational update
In a statement, IndiGo said the Gesture of Care reflects its commitment to support customers who were severely affected by prolonged delays and cancellations. The airline added that its operations have stabilised since the December disruption and that it continues to work to restore normal schedules across its network.
Passengers who believe they were eligible but have not received a voucher link should check their registered contact details and reach out to IndiGo customer support. The airline’s move aims to provide a practical remedy for those inconvenienced during the disruption and to restore traveller confidence as services return to normal.
