Astana will pause acceptance of reports via the iKOMEK109 mobile application from 1 January 2026 while the city undertakes a planned modernisation of its digital services, the municipal monitoring and rapid response centre has announced.
iKOMEK Kazakhstan suspension and alternatives
The centre said the temporary suspension is linked to an upgrade of the app and its underlying systems. Until the updated version of the iKOMEK109 app is launched, residents are asked to use alternative channels to lodge requests and report municipal issues.
Available options include the Telegram chat-bot iKOMEK109, the 24/7 contact centre by dialling 109 from landlines and mobile phones, the official akimat of Astana website, and email at 109@ikomekastana.kz. The city also invited residents to use the official iKOMEK109 pages on Facebook and Instagram to submit enquiries.
The municipal statement did not provide a precise date for the app relaunch. Authorities said services will resume once testing of the upgraded systems is complete and the new version meets operational requirements.
iKOMEK-109 is the unified contact centre that operates around the clock. It handles a broad range of public service requests covering heating, water and electricity supply, lift failures, road and transport issues, urban maintenance, complaints about housing co-operatives and emergency incidents. The service serves as a key channel between residents and city departments responsible for daily life in the capital.
Officials emphasised that the temporary pause affects only the mobile application. The contact-centre phone line and other digital channels remain active. City managers urged residents to report urgent faults by phone to ensure a prompt response, particularly for incidents that pose a safety risk.
Local media coverage noted the interruption comes at a time of fluctuating winter weather in Astana. A recent spell of rapid warming briefly turned some streets into sheets of ice, disrupting open-air recreational sites such as outdoor rinks and slides. While that event is unrelated to the app upgrade, it underscored the importance of accessible reporting channels for urgent municipal repairs during the winter season.
For now, residents should save alternative contact details and monitor official channels for announcements about the app update. The akimat will publish information on the new release when testing concludes and the app is ready for public use.
