Regional authorities in Krasnodar Krai have mobilised to assist passengers left stranded after heavy snowfall caused widespread disruption on the Caucasus–Kuban railway section. Officials say more than 100 railway workers have been deployed to clear lines and restore services, while the regional administration is helping to deliver food to affected travellers.
The Transport Ministry of Krasnodar Krai, local municipal administrations and Russian Railways (RZD) have been working together since the night the snowstorm struck. The North Caucasus Railway reported that the contact network failed overnight on the Caucasus–Kuban section, leading to delays for 18 long-distance passenger trains and three suburban services.

Authorities said they would support the coordinated delivery of meals and other essentials to passengers stranded on board or at stations. The regional administration confirmed that logistical efforts include transporting food supplies and resolving other organisational issues to ensure passengers receive timely assistance.
Emergency measures were introduced in several districts, including Maykop and the districts of Giaginsky, Krasnogvardeysky, Shovgenovsky and Koshekhablsky. Local rescue services and municipal teams have been tasked with both clearing snow and caring for those affected by the disruption.
Government statements also reported casualties linked to the severe weather. In the Republic of Adygea a man died after a canopy collapsed in the courtyard of a private house under the weight of accumulated snow. Krasnodar Krai authorities reported one fatality in the Belorechensky district and an additional injury connected to the same storm system.
Railway and emergency teams prioritise safety and the rapid restoration of the route. The deployed railway workers are conducting inspections and repairs to the overhead contact line and track infrastructure while clearing snow and ice from critical points along the route. Officials emphasised that restoring the contact network is essential before regular services can resume at full speed.
Transport ministry representatives said cooperation with RZD and municipal bodies accelerated the delivery of supplies. “Regional ministries and municipal administrations have coordinated with Russian Railways to tackle the problem,” an operational headquarters bulletin stated. The exact timescale for a full restoration of services has not been announced; officials said progress would depend on weather conditions and the pace of repairs.
Passenger welfare remains a central concern. Authorities have organised distribution points and transport for delivering meals to affected trains and stations, and emergency services are on standby to assist vulnerable travellers. Officials urged residents in affected districts to avoid non-essential travel while clearance operations continue.
As crews continue work to repair the network and clear snow, regional authorities say they will maintain close contact with RZD and municipal partners to monitor the situation and provide further assistance. Updates from the operational headquarters will be published as conditions develop and services are progressively restored.
