Museveni praises Uganda wealth creation drive during Kilama thanksgiving

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended Prophet David Isanga, leader of the Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness, for placing wealth and job creation at the centre of his ministry. The President’s message, delivered by Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilisation Haji Faruk Kirunda on 31 December 2025, was made during the church’s End of Year Glorification and Thanksgiving Convention in Kilama, Kaliro District.

Uganda wealth creation at the heart of ministry message

Museveni told congregants that human beings have both spiritual and physical needs and that satisfying both is essential for a productive life. Spiritual practice, he said, will draw believers closer to God and promote moral discipline, but it must be complemented by practical measures that secure livelihoods.

“To achieve a productive life, households must eliminate moneylessness or subsistence living,” the President’s message said. He urged citizens to pursue profitable enterprises in four key sectors: commercial agriculture, industry, services and information and communications technology. These sectors, he said, are where jobs and wealth are created.

The message stressed that modern life requires money to access food, health care, education and transport. Museveni pointed to government programmes designed to broaden participation in the money economy, including the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, ghetto funds and the bodaboda fund, as scalable resources to lift households out of poverty.

Religious leaders were urged to encourage congregants to work towards improved living standards rather than neglecting earthly responsibilities while preparing for the afterlife. The President referenced the example of Jesus, who combined ministry with honest labour, to argue that spiritual service and socio-economic progress are complementary.

Prophet David Isanga thanked President Museveni for policies he said have supported socio-economic transformation and for guaranteeing freedom of worship, which enabled the church’s growth. At the same time, the preacher called on believers to support Museveni and other National Resistance Movement flagbearers in the 2026 general election.

The conference also served as a platform for local leaders and ministers to reaffirm their commitment to development. Attendees included the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs Jenipher Namuyangu, Bulamogi County MP Bwiire Sanon, and Kaliro Woman MP Brenda Namukuta.

Museveni noted that while Uganda has generally remained peaceful and markets are seeing substantial agricultural and industrial production, roughly 30 per cent of households remain outside the money economy. He said the pathways out of poverty are clear and that ongoing programmes can be up-scaled to reach those in need.

Looking ahead, the President called for continued peace across Africa and greater economic and political integration to expand markets for Ugandan products and enhance regional security. The message combined moral and practical appeals, encouraging both faith communities and the wider public to embrace work and government-supported initiatives as routes to prosperity.

Key Takeaways:

  • President Museveni commends Prophet David Isanga for promoting wealth and job creation among congregants.
  • The message underlines the need to meet both spiritual and physical needs through work, education and government programmes.
  • Government schemes such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga are highlighted as routes out of moneylessness.
  • Faith leaders are urged to encourage participation in commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT to expand jobs and incomes.
