Now You See Me Now You Don’t, the third instalment in the magicians-on-a-heist franchise, has completed its theatrical run and is now available to stream in India via Prime Video on a rental basis. The English-language release is being offered to viewers in India for a one-time rental fee of ₹499, a price that has provoked debate among fans given the film’s modest box-office performance in the territory.

Now You See Me Now You Don’t streaming India where to watch and price

Released as the franchise’s threequel, the film reunites the Four Horsemen with a new generation of illusionists. The movie features Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike and Morgan Freeman, and is directed by Ruben Fleischer. The logline promises “mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic” as the team attempts to outmanoeuvre both rivals and the law.

Although the film did not match box-office expectations worldwide, a loyal fanbase ensured it performed respectably. In India, however, the picture grossed roughly ₹7 crore, a figure industry observers described as underwhelming compared with other territories. The move to rent-only availability on Prime Video marks a common post-theatrical strategy as distributors attempt to recoup revenue beyond cinemas.

Prime Video users in India will not find the film included with their subscription; instead the platform has listed the English version at a rental price of ₹499 per viewing. Several viewers have taken to social media to criticise the fee, arguing that the price is steep given the film’s moderate theatrical returns and the expectation that titles often become available to subscribers without an extra charge after their theatrical window closes.

From a commercial standpoint, the rental model offers a direct income stream to rights holders and can help offset weaker box-office receipts. For a film that underperformed in the Indian market, the OTT release may attract viewers who missed the cinema release or prefer to watch at home, and the cumulative rental revenue could prove meaningful if enough viewers choose to pay the fee.

Industry analysts note that rental pricing varies by market, reflecting licensing costs, platform strategies and local purchasing power. While ₹499 sits at the higher end of single-title rentals in India, distributors may have judged the franchise recognition and international cast as justification for the price point. Whether viewers respond in sufficient numbers to make the strategy profitable remains to be seen.

Fans of the franchise can expect the familiar blend of illusion and heist mechanics. The storyline centres on the return of the Four Horsemen and their attempts to execute elaborate cons while confronting new illusionists and escalating stakes. For those keen to watch immediately, Prime Video is the authorised platform in India, albeit behind the rental paywall.

As the film begins its OTT lifecycle, attention will shift to streaming performance and audience reception online. If rentals generate notable revenue or renewed interest, the title could find a second wind among viewers who prefer home viewing. Otherwise, its legacy in India may remain defined by a modest theatrical run and a contested rental price.

Key Takeaways:

  • Now You See Me Now You Don’t is available to rent on Prime Video in India for ₹499.
  • The film collected about ₹7 crore in India during its theatrical run and now looks to recover via OTT rentals.
  • Now You See Me Now You Don’t streaming India: rental price and availability have sparked viewer complaints.
