Shivraj Chouhan Prays at Trimbakeshwar and Calls for Faster Rural Progress

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik on Friday, offering prayers alongside his family and reiterating the government’s focus on agricultural growth and rural development. Speaking after the darshan, Chouhan asked for the welfare of all and sought blessings for the nation’s continued progress.

Shivraj Chouhan Trimbakeshwar visit highlights farm gains

Addressing reporters, Chouhan pointed to record levels of agricultural production and said this year’s Rabi crops were delivering a bumper harvest. He expressed hope that the favourable yields would translate into greater prosperity for farmers and improved living standards for poor households in villages.

“I prayed to Lord Trimbakeshwar for the welfare of all, for everyone’s well-being, and that God’s blessings remain upon all,” he said. Chouhan specifically mentioned his desire for better futures for farmers, women and the families the government refers to as ‘Ladli sisters’, signalling an emphasis on inclusive welfare.

Chouhan underscored the administration’s commitment to increasing agricultural production further in the coming years and to raising farmers’ incomes to more than double. He said the government would continue policies and programmes that support higher yields and market access for producers.

At a separate gathering in Shirdi, the minister reiterated that village development is central to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”. He highlighted the role of the VB-G RAM G scheme, arguing that it is capable of achieving holistic development across rural areas by strengthening infrastructure and livelihoods.

The VB-G RAM G initiative, according to Chouhan, aims to consolidate efforts in areas such as rural infrastructure, sanitation, water management and income generation. He said he would participate in a programme under the scheme to showcase its potential and to reinforce government priorities at the local level.

Observers note that vocal political support for rural schemes matters at a time when farm incomes and village services remain central to electoral and development agendas across India. By linking religious visits with public messaging on agriculture and rural uplift, ministers often seek to connect with voters and underline policy commitments.

Chouhan’s remarks on the bumper Rabi harvest follow recent government statements that credit a combination of favourable weather, improved seed varieties and expanded support programmes for higher output. The minister framed these gains as a foundation on which further income growth and rural development can be built.

While specific targets and timelines for doubling farmers’ incomes were not detailed during the visit, the minister’s comments signal continued prioritisation of agricultural policy and rural investment. The VB-G RAM G scheme will be a focal point for demonstrating implementation on the ground, he added.

As India continues to pursue growth that reaches villages and smallholder farmers, officials say coordinated schemes and public outreach remain essential. Chouhan’s Trimbakeshwar visit combined a personal act of faith with a public pitch for policies aimed at improving livelihoods, expanding rural infrastructure and sustaining the recent pace of agricultural production.
