Taraburee sits at the meeting point of the Kwae Yai and Kwae Noi rivers in Kanchanaburi, a short distance from the province’s new Skywalk. The restaurant has become a preferred stop for visitors and locals seeking authentic Thai flavours paired with a striking river view. With convenient parking for cars and coaches and easy access to nearby attractions, Taraburee has positioned itself as a practical and scenic dining choice.

Taraburee Kanchanaburi riverfront restaurant offers view and local flavour

The location gives Taraburee a clear advantage. Diners can watch the Skywalk arc across the water while enjoying cooling breezes in the early evening. As daylight fades and lights along the riverside illuminate the scene, the setting enhances both casual lunches and romantic dinners. The restaurant provides open-air seating for those who want to feel the river air, indoor areas for privacy and a function room for larger parties. Live music plays nightly from 18:00 to 21:30, adding an ambient backdrop to the menu.

Food at Taraburee stays true to Thai tradition, with a focus on local produce and regional recipes that are not always easy to find elsewhere. One standout is gaeng pa pla khang, a spicy forest curry made with fresh pla khang caught from the Kwae. The firm white flesh of the fish holds up well to the bold curry paste, which blends lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime leaves for an aromatic, fiery finish.

Another regional specialty is tom yum hed khon, a classic tom yum soup prepared with seasonal hed khon mushrooms. The mushrooms add a pleasing texture and natural sweetness that balances the soup’s sour and spicy profile. For starters or bar snacks, the restaurant’s tod mun pla krai uses genuine pla krai fish, giving a springy, satisfying bite served with a sweet-tangy dipping sauce and sliced cucumber.

Taraburee also serves a distinctive muan khao nam khana, a house variation of the traditional meang that uses crisp kale leaves as wraps. Each leaf is filled with shredded pork floss, shallots, lime, cashew and peanuts for a compact burst of sweet, sour and nutty flavours. The menu concludes with the local favoured pla kae tod nam pla, a freshwater fish fried until the skin is crisp and finished with a reduced fish sauce glaze that highlights the fish’s freshness.

Beyond the kitchen, Taraburee enhances the dining experience with optional river cruises. The restaurant operates private and group boat trips that offer diners a different perspective of the Kwae and its surroundings. These short excursions are popular with guests who wish to extend an evening meal into a scenic river outing.

Practical details are kept straightforward. Taraburee is open daily from 11:00 to 22:30. Reservations are recommended for evenings and larger groups. Contact numbers are 0-3451-2944 and 09-2258-5811, and the restaurant maintains a Facebook page under Taraburee ธาราบุรี for updates and booking enquiries.

For travellers exploring Kanchanaburi’s attractions such as the Skywalk and the historic Bridge over the River Kwae, Taraburee offers a convenient riverside option that pairs regional dishes with memorable views. The combination of location, authentic cooking and a relaxed atmosphere has helped the restaurant earn its place among the area’s recommended dining spots.

Key Takeaways:

  • Taraburee Kanchanaburi riverfront restaurant offers riverside dining with views of the Skywalk and the Kwae confluence.
  • The menu highlights local ingredients and signature dishes such as gaeng pa pla khang and pla kae tod nam pla.
  • Facilities include open-air seating, private dining, live music and river cruises for private groups.
