Tuyen Quang tourism grows as experiential destinations attract visitors in 2025

Tuyên Quang has emerged as a leading experiential destination in Vietnam for 2025, thanks to a connected offer of natural scenery, historic sites and community-led stays. Provincial figures show that in the first 11 months of 2025 the area received more than 3.56 million visitors, including nearly half a million international arrivals, with tourism spending estimated at about VND 9,639 billion.

Tuyen Quang tourism: connected experiential routes

Rather than promoting single attractions, Tuyên Quang has developed a networked model in which each site supports others. Officials presented a list of 34 flagship places that represent a wider system of some 171 sites currently operating across the province. The aim is to create linked itineraries so visitors move from highland vistas to riverine reserves and from revolutionary memorials to village homestays, each stage offering a distinct experience.

In the highlands, karst plateaus and steep ridgelines give way to gentler hills, terraced fields and waterways. Nature reserves such as Na Hang – Lâm Bình stand out for their emerald waters and abundant biodiversity, offering activities like boating and forest walks that encourage longer stays. The province has combined this environmental appeal with cultural tourism: markets, festivals, traditional music and handicrafts are woven into visits so tourists engage with everyday community life.

Local leaders stress that growth is being managed to preserve the very qualities that attract visitors. Tran Duc Chung, chairman of Lũng Cú commune, said the priority is balance: “We do not chase numbers. We protect the natural setting so each destination retains its original character. Visitors come to feel the pace of life and meet local people, not just to take photographs.” This emphasis on conservation and authenticity is shaping investment in infrastructure and product development without allowing mass or invasive tourism.

Historic sites provide a complementary dimension. Tân Trào’s preserved village settings and revolutionary-era structures offer immersive history experiences that many visitors find moving and educational. These sites work alongside village-based tourism to create itineraries that pair landscape with lived memory, encouraging reflection as well as recreation.

The economic impact of this approach is already tangible. By packaging destinations into coherent routes, Tuyên Quang has boosted both domestic and international arrivals and increased average spend. Awards and recognition from international bodies have helped raise the province’s profile, while local enterprises have been encouraged to develop community tourism models that keep more revenue within villages and support traditional crafts.

Going forward, planners intend to scale up selectively, focusing on quality rather than quantity. Investment is being channelled into infrastructure that supports sustainable visitation and into training for community hosts. The objective is clear: to make tourism a long-term, inclusive contributor to the provincial economy while maintaining the authenticity that draws repeat visitors.

For many travellers, the appeal lies in the combination of open scenery, meaningful cultural encounters and slower rhythms of life. With a strategy that connects places into ongoing journeys rather than isolated stops, Tuyên Quang is positioning itself as an exemplar of experiential tourism in Vietnam and increasingly on the international stage.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tuyen Quang tourism is promoted as an experiential circuit linking natural scenery, historical sites and community-based stays.
  • The province highlighted 34 standout sites within a wider network of about 171 active attractions, boosting visitor numbers and spending.
  • In the first 11 months of 2025 the region received 3.56 million visitors, including nearly 500,000 international tourists, generating around VND 9,639 billion.
  • Local authorities prioritise conservation and authentic community involvement to sustain long-term tourism value.
