Da Lat’s famed mai anh đào, commonly referred to in English as cherry blossoms, have begun to bloom across the city, drawing visitors to the surrounding tea hills and central avenues. This early season burst has prompted day-trippers and longer-stay travellers to head to Lâm Đồng province to photograph the pink canopies and join festival activities planned for January and February.

Da Lat cherry blossoms brighten Cầu Đất tea hills

The busiest viewing area in recent days has been the Cầu Đất tea hills in Xuân Trường ward, around 25 kilometres from the city centre. By early morning, groups of tourists and amateur photographers gather amid mist and cool temperatures to capture branches heavy with pale pink flowers. Visitors report that some trees are already in full bloom while others are expected to reach peak flowering in January and early February 2026.

Travelers have come from across southern Vietnam. Many make day trips by motorbike or car, citing social media images and timely reports that the season has arrived earlier than usual. The mix of early-morning light, lingering mist and flowering trees has proved particularly popular for portrait and landscape photography.

Local vendors and tour operators are responding by promoting guided blossom routes and photo stops. Officials say the blossoming season has long been a tourism brand for Da Lat, and this year’s early displays are already supporting local hospitality businesses.

Festival planned to showcase the blossom season

To channel visitor interest, Xuân Hương ward’s People’s Committee will stage the Da Lat Cherry Blossom Festival from 15 January to 15 February 2026. The month-long programme aims to celebrate the flowers, welcome the Lunar New Year and provide curated experiences for both domestic and international guests.

Festival highlights will include an official map of blossom-viewing points and tours, a photographic exhibition at Xuân Hương Park, a community mural and painting competition for children, and a folk dance contest in Langbiang. Free themed coffee tastings under the banner “Hẹn nhau mùa hoa nở” will be offered at Tuyền Lâm National Tourist Area. Specific blossom-viewing events will focus on “Cherry blossoms over Cầu Đất tea hills” and a display called “A cherry blossom dream in the valley” at the Valley of Love tourism site.

Organisers say the festival is designed to diversify local tourism products and create more visitor-friendly offerings during the peak Tet travel period. They are promoting safe, sustainable visitation and encouraging tourists to respect private farmland and local communities when taking photographs.

In the city centre, main streets such as Hùng Vương, Trần Hưng Đạo and Hồ Tùng Mậu already show scattered blooms, with officials forecasting fuller flowering across urban boulevards later in January. Hoteliers and guesthouse owners report heightened bookings linked to the festival dates and weekend demand.

For many visitors, the appeal of the season is both visual and emotional. One traveller described the blossom stroll as a restorative experience after a busy year, while others simply enjoyed the chance to take part in a seasonal tradition that remains a defining element of Da Lat’s tourism offer.

Authorities plan to monitor crowds and provide information on the best times and locations to view the flowers. As the season progresses, the combination of guided events and natural displays should offer a broad range of options for visitors seeking to experience Da Lat’s celebrated blooms.

Key Takeaways:

  • Da Lat cherry blossoms are blooming early this season, attracting large numbers of domestic visitors.
  • Cầu Đất tea hills and central streets are key viewing points with photography and tour routes promoted.
  • Xuân Hương ward will host the Da Lat Cherry Blossom Festival from 15 January to 15 February 2026.
  • Event programmes include exhibitions, free coffee tastings, guided blossom tours and family activities.
